Processes
The Process for electing the National Vice President is outlined in the Election Bylaw (E1)
Below you will find the details and documents required for the nomination for the National President.
Nominations open on the 2nd August 2025 for the role of National Vice President of The Theosophical Society in New Zealand Inc.
Term of Office
The Term of Office is for three years, commencing Monday 2nd February 2026.
Nomination and Election Period
Nominations for the role is open from 2nd August 2025 and closes at 4pm on 30 August 2025. Voting will be by postal ballot in October 2025 by members of the Society who have been 'members in good standing' for not less than twenty-four consecutive months immediately prior to the election.
1. Before putting your name forward, please look at the Role of the National Vice President (E3)
2. A Candidate wishing to put their name forward for the National President role must fill in this NVP Election Acceptance Form (E6) and send the completed form with the required details to the Returning Officer.
3. On receipt of the Election Acceptance Form and validation by the Returning Officer, the candidate's name will be added to the website. Nominators then know that the candidate's signature is held on file at the National Section, indicating their acceptance to stand for the position. Candidates' nominations are invalid until this process is completed.
4. Nominations must be made on the Election Nomination Form (E8) and proposed by fifteen current members of the Society who have been members in good standing for no less than three full consecutive years before 30 August 2025. By nominating a candidate, you verify they have the skills required for the position, as outlined in the Election Bylaw (E1).
5. Eligibility - Some People are disqualified from being an Officer in an Incorporated Society. The Rules pertaining to eligibility for The Theosophical Society in NZ Inc., can be found under Constitution Rule 18.2 (E9)
6. The National President is also a member of The Governance Board which has: Roles and Responsibilities (E16) and Code of Conduct (E15).
Candidate Statement
Here is a template that gives some idea of a Candidate Statement (E12) to be submitted with the Election Acceptance Form. This one-page statement will be sent out with the voting papers and include:
· Background about yourself.
· Your vision for the position you are seeking.
· A summary of the skills and experience you bring to the role.
